AIRPORT TRANSFERS
We can organise a locally based shuttle bus company to
pick you up and drop you back at Cairns airport which is
a 25 minute drive from Palm Cove. The driver will meet
you in the arrivals terminal from your flight. The cost
is $40 per couple each way, quotes for other
configurations are available on request. Please let us
know the number of adults/children, arrival time and
flight number at least 24 hours in advance if you would
like us to arrange this service. Taxis are available,
charges vary and begin around $65 from the airport to
Palm Cove.
BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER
As The Reef Retreat is a self-contained apartment style
resort we do not have a restaurant on site however there
are many cafes and restaurants serving a huge choice of
breakfast, lunch & dinner options a few minutes stroll
from our property. Palm Cove has 28 restaurants and
cafes dotted along the beachfront that cater to every
taste, from fine dining to take away. For guests
arriving late at night and going on tours early the next
day we can arrange a boxed continental breakfast to be
left in your fridge.
CAR HIRE
Car hire is available from reception, hire firms pick up
and drop off cars from the resort. We can also arrange
drop off at the airport through certain firms.

ARRIVING AFTER OFFICE HOURS
Office hours are 8am-7pm daily, if you expect to arrive
outside these hours please contact us so that we can
advise the access code for the key safe. A safe box is
located on the wall outside reception, you will need to
tap in the access code that we have given you to enable
retrieval of the key and instructions to locate the
apartment, it is a straightforward procedure, a house
phone is located next to the phone whereby management is
contactable if necessary.
GROCERY SHOPPING
There are 2 small Supermarkets in Palm Cove itself also
there is a large Coles Supermarket a 5 minute drive away
and 2 stops on the local bus.
PALM COVE WEATHER
Our cooler months are between May and September where
daytime temperatures are around 25oc dipping overnight
to around 15oc. During the summer months from October
–April we enjoy tropical weather that is generally hot
and humid with temperatures around 32oc during the day
and 25oc at night. We can expect tropical downpours of
rain at this time of year and the usual pattern is heavy
rain overnight followed by sunny days and occasional
showers. With sea temperatures rising to between 28oc &
30oc it is a wonderful time to snorkel and dive on the
Great Barrier Reef as the ocean is generally calmer, it
is also a great time to visit the Rainforest and
waterfalls which are spectacular at this time.
POOL TOWELS
You do not need to bring pool towels as we provide them
free of charge. You can take them to the beach and on
trips to the Reef.
PUBLIC BUS
Sunbus provide regular public transport to and from
Cairns City/Palm Cove, the cost is around $14 return
trip.
